How we work
We aim to make each comparison useful to someone with a real question. The short answer comes first; the rest of the article explains when it holds, where it breaks down and how to apply it.
Research and sources
We prioritise primary sources such as official guidance, scientific organisations, dictionaries, standards bodies and the organisations responsible for a product or service. We check that linked pages can be opened during preparation and that they support the claims attached to them. A working link alone does not prove that a claim is correct.
Measurements, definitions and rules need context. If sources use different definitions or recipes, we explain the difference. We avoid invented statistics, test results and claims of professional expertise.
Examples and interactive tools
Examples written for an article are identified as examples. Calculators show their assumptions and limitations. A visual illustration is not evidence of a measurement or a reliable substitute for an identification guide.
AI-assisted production
We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting and illustration. Articles are checked against the cited sources before publication. Editorial illustrations may be generated with AI; they illustrate the topic and should not be read as photographs, scientific diagrams or records of tests. We do not claim independent expert review unless an article identifies the actual reviewer and their contribution.
Updates and corrections
The date shown on an article reflects its WordPress publication or modification date. Source-check dates describe the checks performed for that version. Rules and products can change after publication. Please report corrections to info@whatsdifferent.co.uk, including the article URL and a source where possible.
Commercial content
If an article is sponsored or contains affiliate links, it should carry a clear disclosure on that article. Commercial relationships should not be presented as independent evidence. Information about health, money or legal questions should explain its limits and should not replace advice for an individual situation.
